We met each other in the spring of 2002, hopeless romantics and extremely broken people. After four years of intense marital highs and lows we were on the verge of divorce. During our separation Pastor Sonia found the Lord and God the Father’s love radically collided with her heart. Seeds of hope and restoration were birthed, and the Lord healed our hearts and marriage. We repented of our sins and hurts, forgiving one another and receiving not only God’s love, but also His burden for His bride the church. After more than a dozen years in church leadership at a prior ministry, our seasons changed in an instant. The Lord called us out and had us look at the condition of our hearts, marriage and life callings yet again. Asking the Lord, where do we go from here? After a time of resting and inflection, undergirded in deep prayer and soul searching suddenly, His sheep began to seek us out and the burden to lead for Christ was once again reignited like never before. As a family we actively live in three generations. We mean that literally, as we have five amazing children and a beautiful granddaughter.We pray you join God’s kingdom family of choice, and jump into Christ’s abundant life with us!

Children’s Ministry Director & Financial Administrator ~
My name is Edna Peña, I lead the Children and Youth Ministry as well as provide Administrative support at Kingdom Arise Church. I have been an active member since the Church establishment in May 2019. My calling as a teacher was confirmed a couple of years ago while serving in a Children’s Ministry. I am passionate about developing our children’s faith and identity in Christ as the word says in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”I was born and raised in Southern California and have called San Diego home since 1992. I earned my undergraduate degree at UCSD and MBA in Finance from the National University. In my spare time I enjoy outdoor activities in our beautiful city with my son, reading and watching movies. My future vision is to offer our children a Christian based School Academy where they can continue to build their faith as future leaders in the Kingdom of God.
Leo & Denise Hernandez
Young Adults Ministry Directors ~
We are Leo and Denise Hernandez and we have been a part of Kingdom Arise church since its beginning in 2019. We are first generation believers and God was working on us individually before he brought us together. We have been married since 2018 and have been blessed with a beautiful daughter. We are the leaders of Kingdom Arise young adults ministry. We have a Burden to reach young adults to know their identity in Christ & that they were created with a purpose. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 NKJV We look forward to seeing them develop their walk in Christ as the next generation
